A Victorian College of the Arts graduate in Film and Television 1999, Edmund was awarded with a First Class Honours. He wrote and directed an interactive film about a photographer with 8 personalities which also won him several awards from the arts industry before the age of 23. Then he directed two live acts and worked with some of Australia’s most controversial theater directors and choreographers, touching on subjects such as ‘Surveillance’, ‘Dictatorship’ and ‘Religion’.
His journey as an artist began in 1996 when he majored in Photography and spent 3 years working with black and white photography and developing work in the darkroom. He has since witnessed the transition from film to digital, but his strength in technical skills in studio lighting has kept him ahead of his contemporaries, often developing new lighting skills. During the semester breaks, he worked at one of Melbourne’s biggest advertising agencies (Show-Ads and Adtown – now called PMP Digital) and was mentored by several leading advertising photographers on studio photography photographing for accounts such as David Jones, Daimaru and Myer.
In 2002, he relocated to Sydney to pursue a full time career as a photographer for home and lifestyle brands, he landed few jobs in E-Commerce for several large online retails over the years taken on roles in photography, interactive design and studio management. He was eventually promoted to Head of Photography overseeing the creative contents for two online retail websites in a very fast paced digital environment.
Meanwhile he was also working with various talents in Sydney shooting fashion and lifestyle. In 2012 he decided to conquer the international fashion scene so each year he would spend a month to work with talents in Paris, London, Barcelona, Tokyo, Madrid and Marseille. He would spend at least 6 months prior to each trip to plan, produce and communicate with models and crews on the concepts and ideas.
In 2016, he returned to Melbourne to work on his “20 years retrospective” however the execution method and date is yet to be released. Edmund is currently based in both Sydney and Melbourne.
